The new stars of 2013 ! The otter path

Since April, otters and sea lions are the new residents at Océanopolis. They've taken up residence in a new 300 m² outdoor area created just for them and divided into two ecosystems from California and the North East Atlantic region.
The North East Atlantic region is represented by part of the Crozon peninsula and its coastal apex predator, the Eurasian otter. This coastal inhabitant exploits the aquatic environment as do its fellow creatures in Ireland or Scotland. Over to the Pacific side, the pools are lined with fremontia plants from California that represent, along with the setting, the coastal environment of an iconic marine species, the California sea lion.

Temperate pavilion: discovering the Breton seas

In the Temperate Pavilion you can dive in to get a close look at the fauna and flora found along the coast of Brittany.
You'll be able to observe langoustines sheltering in their burrows, admire the brightly coloured sea anemones, keep an eye out for yellow pollocks as they patrol among the kelp, the largest live seaweed in Europe. Seahorses sway on the current while seals perform an aquatic ballet in their spectacular tank. Océanopolis offers far more than just aquariums: it gives you whole chunks of the ocea.

Tropical pavilion: discovering warm seas around the world

Embark on a trip to the Tropics for an extraordinary face-to-face encounter with six species of sharks.
A glass elevator allows you to watch them up close! Discover a true technical feat: a coral reef with its living corals and a host of graceful and multicolored fish! Learn all there is to know about the daily life of coral reef fish and let a lush tropical rainforest bring out the explorer in you.

Polar pavilion: discovering a frozen world

As soon as you set foot in the South Pole, exceptional sights take you to the heart of the ice to discover its sub-antarctic fauna. The size of our penguin colony is the largest in Europe and therefore unique: no less than 40 animals living, diving and swimming before your very eyes! All it takes is a 20,000-kilometre leap and here are the seals from the Great North living comfortably on a real ice floe!

Restaurants

On-site, and depending on the season, you can choose to have lunch in our restaurant or self-service bar for buy takeaway food. From the terraces, you'll be able to enjoy a magnificent view over the bay of Brest.
